Dosage |
Cleanse the wound with saline or a suitable cleansing solution. Cover the affected area with Solosite Gel (approximately 5mm thick). Where practical, cover the wound & the gel with a film or non-stick dressing. Change daily or as directed to prevent drying out of the gel. For chicken pox & sunburn reapply on a regular basis to prevent the wound from drying out.

Macular Degeneration
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the leading causes of vision loss and blindness in people over 55 years. Diseases like glaucoma and cataracts affect more people but there exist effective treatments for these conditions unlike AMD. The disease, macular degeneration destroys the central portion of the retina, the light sensing cells at the back of the eye. As the disease progresses the patient experiences a blurring of their centre of vision, forcing them to view the world through their peripheral vision and they miss much of the colour and detail around them. Many supplements claim to benefit eyesight but in a recent study performed by the American National Institute of Health (NIH) one in particular has been indicated as a possible treatment for AMD.
Ocuvite PreserVision contains the high dose of antioxidants and zinc used in the research that was shown to slow the progression of AMD to blindness. Earlier studies had shown that people eating large amounts of fruits and vegetables, containing vitamins had a reduced risk of developing macular degeneration. The antioxidants used in Ocuvite Preser Vision and in the study were Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. It was found that the addition of zinc to the formulation created a further reduction to the risk of blindness. The levels of these substances needed are well above the intake that would usually be possible through dietary intake alone. This is not a supplement that should be taken “just in case” for those wishing to guard against sight deterioration. The high doses contained in Ocuvite PreserVision are not recommended for those not suffering from AMD and smokers especially should consult a health professional before considering supplementation.
